Abstract

This article examines subject-verb agreement in complex sentences within Pashto syntax, focusing on how agreement features manifest in various syntactic structures. Pashto, an Eastern Iranian language, exhibits a rich agreement system, including person, number, and gender distinctions. The study explores subject-verb agreement patterns across main and subordinate clauses, with attention to syntactic conditions that influence agreement, such as clause type, syntactic dependencies, and the presence of embedded clauses. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Pashto’s syntactic architecture and its mechanisms for maintaining grammatical congruence across complex sentence structures.
